Orders to the U.S.


Online ordering. We encourage you to use our online shopping cart. You may access the shopping cart at any time through the navigation menu; you may add any book to the cart from that book’s description page. Orders will be filled by Ingram Publisher Services, our domestic distributor. To inquire about domestic orders placed through the Penn Press website, contact IPS Order Support by email at ordersupport@ingramcontent.com or call (844) 841-0258.

Please do not submit orders via email or fax. To safeguard your credit card information, book orders must be placed online through our secure shopping cart.

All Penn Press books are shipped via UPS. Shipping charges are additional to prices quoted in catalog information, as are sales taxes, and will be calculated in the shopping cart. Domestic orders will arrive in 5-10 days.

Returns. Should you choose to return an item, you will be eligible for a full refund of the purchase price and applied taxes, but you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. These conditions apply: books must be undamaged and in salable, like-new condition. If the books you receive are not as ordered, or if your shipment arrives damaged, you will be eligible for a full refund of the purchase price, applied taxes, and original shipping cost if you return the items within 30 days of their receipt. You will nonetheless be responsible for the cost of return shipping. Ship returns, postpaid, to this address:

Once your returned items are received, inspected, and approved, refunds will be processed to the credit card used in the original purchase. Please note that it may take your credit card issuer 4-6 weeks to refund your account.


University of Pennsylvania Press participates in Ingram’s consolidated delivery and free-freight policy. To qualify for free freight, orders must total at least 10 units, or $350 in retail value, of any combination of IPS and wholesale stock. A fuel surcharge of $2.00 will apply. Books will ship from the store’s primary and secondary Ingram distribution centers (Oregon, Indiana, Pennsylvania, or Tennessee). Orders will combine with Ingram wholesale and those for other publishers distributed by Ingram/IPS but will be invoiced separately.

Orders may be placed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Orders placed by 11:00 AM at their local distribution center will ship the same day. Fax orders may take 24-48 hours to process. Orders from large retail distribution centers, wholesale operations, or those requiring special handling may require additional time.

Prices marked “t” in catalog information indicate trade discount; those marked “a” indicate academic trade discount; and those marked “s” are subject to our short discount policy. Our uniform schedule of domestic retail discounts (these discounts apply only to orders shipped to U.S. retail accounts) is this:

Returns policy. Permission to return is not required. Eligible titles may be returned to Ingram’s Jackson facility, where they will be credited at the prevailing discount and retail price. Credit will be issued for books received in shop-worn or better condition that were purchased on a returnable basis. Returns will be accepted for 180 days following the issuing of out-of-print notifications.

You may place orders with your regular supplier, or you may order directly using Ingram ipage or order from Ingram Library Services.

All orders to U.S. addresses are shipped FOB the Ingram warehouse in Jackson, Tennessee.

Orders Within the Americas (Outside the U.S.)

Orders shipping to countries in the Americas (North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean) will be filled by Ingram Publisher Services, our U.S. distributor, and should be placed through the Penn Press website. To inquire about orders placed through the Penn Press website, contact IPS Order Support by email at ordersupport@ingramcontent.com or call (844) 841-0258.

Customers shipping to Canada may select Canada Post (“Post Track”) shipping; all other international orders will ship with DHL.

Please note that, for all international orders filled by IPS, the customer is the importer of record and will be responsible to pay the carrier (when contacted) for any applicable taxes and duties before delivery is made. Failure to pay such charges may prevent delivery of the shipment. Credit will not be issued for shipments that are not delivered due to non-payment of taxes and duties.

Orders Outside of the Americas


If you reside outside of the Americas, we encourage you to order directly from our overseas distributor, Combined Academic Publishers. To place an order through CAP, search for the Penn Press titles you are interested in on the CAP website and complete your purchase there. In some cases, you can also navigate to CAP from the Penn Press website—many books’ pages include a button with a link to buy the ebook edition from CAP on the book’s product page, under the text reading “Ebooks available from.”

Orders shipping to addresses throughout the U.K., Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia/New Zealand will be supplied from the Marston Book Services warehouse, near Oxford, U.K. To inquire about orders shipping outside of the Americas, contact Marston customer services.
