Pulsipher and Richter in After the Mayflower

If you didn't catch the premiere of After the Mayflower, the first episode in the new American Experience miniseries We Shall Remain, you can still watch it on line at PBS.org.

Look for interviews of Jenny Hale Pulsipher, author of Subjects unto the Same King: Indians, English, and the Contest for Authority in Colonial New England, and Early American Studies series editor Daniel K. Richter. Both historians provide important context to the beautifully directed reenactments of the interactions between the Wampanoag Indians and the Pilgrims. After the Mayflower centers on the Wampanoag leaders Massasoit and his son, Metacom, who was later called Philip as they negotiate, trade, and eventually fight with the English in Massachusetts.
