Penn Press has partnered with Penn Alumni to create an exciting new series of online, interactive events called Behind the Book with Penn Press. The events will introduce alumni to authors whose work has been published by Penn Press. In conversation with an editor or staff member from Penn Press, each author will speak about their latest Penn Press book or contribution to a themed issue of a journal.

Currently, two Behind the Book events have been scheduled. The first event will take place on Thursday, October 8 at noon ET and will feature Kellie Carter Jackson, author of Force and Freedom: Black Abolitionists and the Politics of Violence, in conversation with Senior Editor Bob Lockhart. The second event will take place on Tuesday, October 13 at 7 p.m. ET and will feature Jean Reith Schroedel, author of Voting in Indian Country: The View from the Trenches,  in conversation with Publicity and Public Relations Manager Gigi Lamm. At all Behind the Book events, Penn Press will offer registrants of each event a special discount on the book being discussed—register now to secure your spot!
