Penn Press is pleased to announce that Elisabeth Maselli will join the University of Pennsylvania Press as a senior acquisitions editor at the end of March 2022. She will be acquiring titles in Jewish studies, religious studies, politics, and cultural anthropology. She will oversee the Jewish Culture and Context series, our two series in ethnography, and other areas to be determined as she gets acclimated to the Press.
Most recently, Elisabeth was employed at Rutgers University Press as an acquiring editor and intellectual property manager, where she worked to expand the press’s list in religious studies and negotiated with De Gruyter for the digitization of the press’s full backlist. She serves on the Association of University Presses’s Rights and Intellectual Property Committee and is active in the scholarly press community. She earned a Master of Arts in History at the University of Delaware in 2015, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers in 2021.
Walter Biggins, Penn Press’s editor-in-chief, notes, “Elisabeth impressed us from the start, with her ability to both think granularly about acquiring specific titles and disciplines and to articulate long-term goals for the Press and her role within it.” He adds, “Her training in intellectual property will be invaluable as we plan for a future that will involve closer relationships with libraries, the challenges of open access, and expanding our lists in the humanities.”
Elisabeth says, “I am excited to join the team at Penn Press. I have long admired the important and groundbreaking Penn list, and am honored to bring my acquisitions and intellectual property experience to the Press in the role of senior acquisitions editor.”
We are very excited to have her with us and look forward to working with her.
