Jo Ann McNamara

Today we at the University of Pennsyvlania Press received news that Jo Ann McNamara, Professor Emerita of History at Hunter College, City University of New York, has died. McNamara wrote and edited many important works on medieval culture and the lives of women in the middle ages. She translated Daily Life in the World of Charlemagne and, most recently, Paris in the Middle Ages for Penn Press.

"She was a fine historian, a good friend to the Press and to The Middle
Ages Series
over the years, and a real original," said Senior Humanities Editor Jerome Singerman.
