It is with great sadness that we share the news of Nina Auerbach’s passing. Auerbach was the John Welsh Centennial Professor of English until her 2010 retirement, and was a noted scholar in the fields of Victorian literature, theater, cultural history, and horror fiction and film. She was the author of two books for Penn Press—Ellen Terry, Player in Her Time and Daphne du Maurier, Haunted Heiress—as well as numerous other prominent books including Our Vampires, Ourselves, Woman and the Demon: The Life of a Victorian Myth, and more.
