Double Prizes for John Van Engen and Sisters and Brothers of the Common Life

We at Penn Press are proud to spread the news about John Van Engen, professor of history at the University of Notre Dame. Late last week, Van Engen received both the John Gilmary Shea Prize from the American Catholic Historical Association and the Philip Schaff Prize of the American Society of Church History for his recent book Sisters and Brothers of the Common Life: The Devotio Moderna and the World of the Later Middle Ages.

According to the Gilmary Shea prize citation, "Van Engens' book succeeds admirably at showing us with the devotio moderna was important, presenting what has been done on it to date, then exploring new paths to further understanding of the subject."

Congratulations, Professor Van Engen!
