E. R. Truitt is Associate Professor in the Department of the History and Sociology of Science at the University of Pennsylvania. She is author of Medieval Robots: Mechanism, Magic, Nature, and Art and Necessary Inventions: Roger Bacon, the Middle Ages, and the Making of Modern Science, both of which are available from the University of Pennsylvania Press.
